Instructions for picking up & delivering a route
Below are general instructions for doing a delivery. If you have specific questions, check the FAQs.
1. Box Instructions
Once you’re inside the warehouse (located at 3696 Dufferin Street), you’ll see all the boxes lined up on tables. Each box has a label with the address & route number. The tables also have route numbers on them to help you find your boxes. (Click here to see where each route number is located in the warehouse.) If you don’t find all your boxes, a box may have been moved, so please look for it.
After finding your boxes, put the following items into each box, as per the quantity on the label:
- Milk (walk-in fridge)
- Yogurt (walk-in fridge, not always available)
- Chicken (walk-in fridge or chest freezers)
- Fish (chest freezer labeled “Fish Freezer”)
Remember to close the front door when you leave. The lights turn on and off automatically (motion activated).
2. Delivery Instructions
Please read each label carefully, as many addresses have specific instructions. For either a house or apartment, put the box by their door and knock/ring loudly. If possible, try to make sure someone takes the box inside, as boxes occasionally get stolen – especially in apartment buildings. If you have any concerns, it’s better to ask than assume.
What day & time should I deliver?
- The bread is delivered and packed on Wednesday between 10am – 1pm. After that, the boxes are ready to go.
- Deliveries should preferably be done on Wednesday instead of Thursday. This gives recipients more time to prepare the food for Shabbos, and leaves Thursday as a ‘buffer’ day for any forgotten boxes or issues.
- Deliveries should be done preferably after 4:00 pm so people are home and food doesn’t get stolen or spoiled sitting outside for a long period of time.
- All boxes must be delivered before 9:30 pm.
If you have specific instructions regarding a box or know an address requires different requirements then act accordingly.
I need a replacement driver for a week or two...
- As a regular driver, you should have a ‘buddy system’ for times when you’re not able to deliver. If someone is doing your route, make sure they have all the instructions they need. You can send them a link to this website.
- If you can’t find a replacement yourself, notify Aryeh at 647-620-6335 as early as possible and he’ll try to get someone to cover for you.
- NEW – If you’d like to be assigned a ‘buddy’ who you can contact directly as needed, let Aryeh know and he’ll pair you up with someone.
